English Language Courses
Our English language courses are designed around the student’s specific requirements. Our full-time courses are taught one-to-one, or in small groups, and are focussed on the student’s objectives, level and pace.

Our English programmes range from the very effective and very intense Berlitz Total Immersion (40 hours a week one-to-one, with lessons even over lunch) to the more relaxed, semi-private group (with two or three students). Our most popular programmes fall between, and are usually full-time Monday to Friday. Our Berlitz Method emphasises fluency in the spoken language during class time, in order to maximise teacher contact, and leaves the formal written work for home. Students are fully involved in the dialogue and get constant opportunities for speaking practice. The Berlitz Method really works and progress in the language is rapid.
Foreign Language Courses
We teach all languages, including French, German, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Arabic and Japanese. The courses can be intensive (all day, all week) or part-time, allowing the student to optimise their time.

Our full-time and part-time courses are usually taught one-to-one. This is the most effective way to learn, and is highly personalised to the student’s particular language requirements. The student chooses the dates and schedule, based on their time and budget. We then build the most effective programme around those needs, level and course length. We can do goth general and business topics – whichever will be most useful for the student. Our foreign language teachers are native-fluent, qualified and very experienced, and we consistently receive excellent feedback from our students.
Company Language Training
We work directly with Training or HR Departments to assess their employees’ language needs, whether the company is integrating staff in a multinational team or planning an overseas venture or launch.

A Business Language Adviser establishes the students’ requirements for their language goals, course content (which may include project-work or materials from the company) and lesson schedules. Tuition can be arranged individually or in small groups and can be given either at the company’s premises or in our Berlitz Centres in Oxford and Edinburgh. Back-up services such as cultural consulting, translation services, and self-study and online materials, mean you can think of UKLC as your complete out-of-house Language Services Department.
Students Coming from Overseas
We arrange accommodation, airport transfers and social programmes to extend and reinforce your language experience.

In addition to the all-important tailor-made language programme, we provide both home stay accommodation and airport transfers to our Berlitz Centres in Oxford and Edinburgh. We can also advise on hotels or self-catering options, excursions, mid-course family visits, and extra-curricula evening or weekend social programmes. Both Oxford and Edinburgh are beautiful, historic, and safe cities with lots of interesting things for students to do outside the school. It’s learning English in a ‘classroom without walls’.
Group Evening Programmes
We organise evening classes in French, German, Spanish and Cambridge English exams in our Berlitz Centres in Oxford and Edinburgh.

Generally after work hours, at 18:00 or 18:30 midweek, our 90-minute or two-hour classes are small enough to be focussed and professional, yet they are also informal and fun. Foreign language classes usually meet once a week, and English exam classes twice a week. Extra catch-up tuition, or a last-minute dash to the exam date, can add to the experience and effectiveness. We use the very effective Berlitz materials, which emphasise natural fluency while also providing more formal material for studying after class.
Translation & Interpretation
We translate documents and website files, with page-layout and formatting where needed, and can provide interpreters for meetings.

We can handle document translations in or out of English, or between any two other languages. Our translators all have professional qualifications, and we can can give advice on how to obtain notarised documentation if needed. Our interpreters, generally working in or out of English as “consecutive” interpreters (“simultaneous” interpreting is very specialised, but please enquire) can add that extra dimension to a technical meeting, or a crucial advantage in a delicate negotiation.

We have a large resource library of materials which cover our students’ different language needs, including Business, Legal and Financial topics.
